2001-2002 Florida School Grades Released
(06/12/02) -- Students from 10 schools will be eligible for state vouchers to attend private schools, officials said Wednesday as they released school grades for the recently completed school year.
Of the more than 2,500 Florida public schools, 68 schools received an 'F' grade, although only two received a failing grade for a second straight year. Another 22 schools have incomplete grades.
Students attending any school that receives a failing grade twice within four years are eligible for vouchers.
Gov. Jeb Bush and other state officials reported 861 schools received 'A' grades, 560 earned B's, 707 had C's and 173 received D's.
The 10 schools eligible for vouchers include:
--Orange County: Mollie E. Ray Elementary.
--Miami-Dade County: Edison Senior High; Comstock Elementary; Lillie C. Evans Elementary; Floral Heights Elementary; Frederic Douglass Elementary.
--Palm Beach County: Lincoln Elementary; West Riviera Elementary; Glades Central High School.
--Escambia County: Century Elementary
