Orange County
Orange County Public Schools is the 16th largest school district in the nation and is the fifth largest in Florida. In addition to operating 99 elementary, 26 middle, and 13 high schools, OCPS operates four alternative/exceptional schools and 19 Technical Education and Adult and Community Education Centers. The school system owns 3,586 acres of property.
About the district
Communities within the Orange County School District are: Apopka, Eatonville, Ocoee¸ Orlando, Maitland, Union Park, Windermere, Winter Garden, Winter Park and Zellwood.
Orange County operates Central Florida's largest public transportation system. During the school year, Orange County buses travel more than 17 million miles. That breaks down to 95,800 miles on an average school day.
State law requires that any student living beyond two miles be provided transportation to school.
