History: University of Central Florida (UCF) is located 13 miles east of downtown Orlando in Oviedo. It is one of 10 state universities in Florida. More than 36,000 students attend, and has more than 100,000 alumni. UCF offers undergraduate education rooted in the arts and sciences, providing a broad liberal education while developing competence in fields of special interest. UCF has four branches, in Daytona Beach, downtown Orlando, Cocoa, and South Orlando.
