Free Museums in Central Florida
Did you know that Central Florida is home to more than two dozen museums with free admission? Here are some of the best, starting with local history.
Museum of Seminole County History
Visitors can view exhibits featuring Native American artifacts, a picture gallery, a country store, celery and fernery rooms, historical documents, and more. Collections and educational activities focus on the economic, political, social, intellectual and technological heritage of Seminole county. For more information click here.

Fort Christmas Historical Park & Museum
Sightseers can experience local history in a traditional Florida "Cracker" house and a replica of a fort built during the Seminole Indian War. Visitors can also view a sugar cane mill and other historical farming equipment. For details click here.

Liberty Bell Memorial Museum - Brevard
Visitors can explore exhibits spanning 300 years of U.S. history and culture, featuring a full-size replica of the Liberty Bell. Rotating exhibits include artifacts and memorabilia from all American wars, model warships and airplanes, weapons, clothing, a gallery of U.S. flags, full-size photographic reproductions of important documents, local history and more. DeLand House Museum
DeLand House Museum and Memorial Hospital Museum at Bill Dreggors Park is a Historical site exhibiting artifacts, documents, and materials from the western part of Volusia County. DeLand House also provides lectures and demonstrations. For more West Volusia history click here.

Holocaust Memorial Resource and Education Center - Maitland
Exhibits give visitors a journey through the pre-World War II through postwar hardships of Jewish communities in Europe. Key events and documentary evidence are presented in multi-media form and integrated into the Exhibit. Holocaust art, material from Yad Vashem, and personal histories told by local survivors and liberators are also featured. The Center houses a multimedia archive of books, materials, documents, prints, transparencies, posters, filmstrips, films, and videotapes. For details click here.

Pine Castle Center of the Arts - Orlando
The Folk Art exhibits, grounds and buildings provide a comprehensive history experience for sightseers. Through community programs, events, and educational activities visitors can learn about the arts, skills, life styles, and craftsmanship of early Floridians. Entrance is by appointment.

Royellou Museum - Mount Dora
Historical Mount Dora museum allows visitors to go back in time while exploring archives, a research library, and historical materials, or participating in educational programs and permanent and rotating displays of local history.

Sanford Museum
Collections and exhibits highlight the development of the city of Sanford from the time Florida became a U.S. territory to the present. Special attention is given to the life and achievements of the city's founder, Henry S. Sanford.

Central Florida Railroad Museum - Winter Garden
Located in the historic district of Winter Garden in the old Tavares and Gulf railroad depot, the Railroad Museum lets visitors experience the history of railroading in Central Florida. Exhibits include: "Ghost Trains," "Tug and Grunt," a restored caboose, routes and history collections, railroad china, a 1938 Fairmont Motor Car, and railroad artifacts and photos. Winter Park Historical Association and Museum
Located in the Farmer's Market building, the former Winter Park railway freight depot, the museum features antiques and exhibits highlighting the history of Winter Park.
