Alexander Springs

Scuba divers love Alexander Springs, with its large boil that pumps out 80 million gallons per day. The four loops of campsites have varying ecology, from pine flatwood to oak and subtropical sable palm. Other features are an outdoor amphitheater and a small grocery store near the Spring.

Nearest City: Altoona

Directions: From Altoona, FL, take SR 19 north for 3.7 miles to sign. Turn east and go 5 miles to campground. Number of Sites: 65 RV/Tent

Group Camping: Yes

Maximum Stay: 4/16 - 10/14: 14 days; 10/15 - 4/15: 30 days.

Rate per Night: $15 per day

Potable Water: Yes

Toilets: Flush

Showers: Hot showers located on Loops B and C and near the beach.

Water Feature: Spring with large swimming area and river. 7-mile canoe run.

Water Activities: Swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving (must be certified), canoeing, canoe rental, portage

Hiking: Paisley Woods Bike Trail (22 mi.), Timucuan Indian Trail is a nature trail which winds through various ecologies and skirts the Alexander Springs Run (1.1 mi.)
