Disaster Guide: Supply Kit

Admit it: You probably stuck a couple of jugs of water, a few cans of pork-n- beans, a box of Band- Aids and a soggy, 6-year- old road flare in your closet. Time to get real.

FEMA and the local fire authorities recommend you self-equip with everything on this list. Check the details on each item. You don't want to get caught short -- or have to fight the crowd at the Home Depot.

WATER Plan on using one gallon of water per person per day. Get details
FOOD Store at least a three-day supply of non-perishable food. Get details
